Course description

Courses are bespoke and tailored around the individual. The curriculum is linked to vocational areas of the College, students will explore subjects such as Motor Vehicle, Construction, Hair & Beauty, Hospitality & Catering, Retail and Customer Service. Work Experience is a fundamental part of the course and this will give valuable learning experiences in a range of local and national employment settings. The course is designed to ensure young people become as work ready and employable as possible to the individual. Students will complete studies in functional English, maths and ICT. Qualifications will be made available to suit each individual. The course will be a full time that will require learners to access college 5 days a week.

Entry requirements

You need a minimum of Functional Skills Entry Level 1 in English and Maths or a diploma in Personal Progress. Prior work experience is advantageous as the course will require you to undertake a number of different work experience roles as you move through the phased curriculum. Who is it For? / What can I do after the course?The course is designed for young people who have learning difficulties and who will require extra support to access a mainstream further education college. The course is designed for young people who want to gain skills to help them in to the world of employment.Students can progress from this course to a Level 1 course in a range of vocational areas of the main college. Students will also be encouraged to move in to supported / independent employment.

Assessment

Learners will be assessed in a number of ways dependent on the vocational learning pathway they choose. Most assessments for vocational courses will be practical and assessments for functional skills will be both practical and written exams.

Financial information

16-19 is free tuition and registration fees. Anyone 19-24 will be informed of relevant costs at time of enquiry
