Mathematics with Mechanics AS/A2 Level at Deyes High School

Course description

Mathematics is a challenging and rewarding A Level that equips you with the skills to progress into a wide range of areas such as Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Engineering.

It is highly regarded as one of the most academic A Levels and is essential or desirable for a wide range of degree courses.

Course content

Mathematics with Mechanics is usually taught in a small group so you will receive plenty of help and support from enthusiastic, dedicated and well qualified staff. Lessons involve group discussions and activities as well as more formal teaching and opportunities to develop skills working independently.

You will build upon knowledge gained at GCSE in topics such as algebra, geometry and trigonometry, and explore new topics such as logarithms, kinematics, projectiles and momentum.

Entry requirements

Grade A in Maths and Grade C in English.

Assessment

There are six units, and each of these is assessed by an examination at the end of the academic year. You will have regular assessments set by your teacher throughout the year to monitor your progress.

Careers in many areas such as Engineering, Mathematics, Accountancy, Natural Sciences and Construction.
