Hospitality and Catering Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship at Northumberland College

Course description

This route offers candidates access to a wide range of opportunities in industry, such as Sous Chef and even Head Chef, not to mention progression to General Management opportunities in large multiples. The craft skills delivered by this route are also important to Institutional catering, such as hospitals, schools and the MoD.

Course content

You will develop the chef skills needed to progress into a supervisory or managerial role within a hospitality setting. Ideal if you work in hospitality and catering and want to develop your skills and gain a recognised higher level qualification.

Entry requirements

You should have four GCSEs at Grade C or above including English and Maths or a relevant Level 2 qualification and be employed in the industry.

Assessment

Your progress will be assessed by a range of methods including practical assessments/ observations, written assignments, and short online multiple choice tests. Much of the assessment is done in the workplace but there may be a requirement for you to attend college for 1 day per week.

Future opportunities

Progression routes in terms of education and training would likely to be to a Foundation Degree in Culinary Arts, or an HNC/D in Hospitality Management.
