Course description

Why study Geography?
Geographers study the interaction between people and the places they inhabit. Geography is a relevant and flexible subject that integrates well with a variety of other subject areas and can usefully be combined with science or arts and social sciences. It allows the science specialist to develop important literacy skills and the arts specialist to develop important numeric and graphical skills. Geography opens doors to a wide spectrum of career opportunities.

Unit 1: Changing Landscapes

  • Section A: Changing Landscapes
  • Section B: Tectonic Hazards

Unit 2: Changing Places

  • Section A: Changing Places
  • Section B: Fieldwork Investigation in Physical and Human Geography

Assessment

Unit 1:

  • Written examination: 2 hours
  • Section A: Two compulsory structured questions with data
    response
  • Section B: Three compulsory structured questions with data response.

Unit 2:

  • Written examination: 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Section A: Two compulsory structured questions with data response
  • Section B: Three compulsory structured questions with data response on fieldwork and the learner’s own fieldwork investigation.
