Philosophy and Ethics AS at Islington Sixth Form Consortium (IC6)
This course will encourage your interest in and enthusiasm for religious studies. It will provide you with anunderstanding of its intrinsic value and significance.You willacquire an understanding of different philosophical theories and debate different ethical situations.
The AS is comprisedof two modules Philosophy of Religion and Religious Ethics. As with all the humanities subjects, you will acquire a broad skill set, such as analysis, interpretation, critical thinking and the ability to produce extended evaluative pieces of writing.
Six GCSEs at grade C or above including minimum grade B in English and Maths.
This is a natural progression for students that have studied Religious Studies at GCSE level. Whilst a knowledge of religious studies would be beneficial it is not essential for anyone wishing to study for this course.
Religious studies and philosophy are both well-respected subjects that compliment other humanities or art based topics and can lead to a wide range of careers such as law, journalism, archaeology, management, politics, the Civil Service or social work.
