Access:Level 2 Certificate in Employability Skills at Suffolk New College

Course description

This course is designed for those looking to develop their English, maths and study skills, in order to gain employment or an apprenticeship. The programme is also designed to equip students with the confidence and independent learning skills required for successful progression onto a Level 3 study programme in September 2017 if they wish to. The programme focuses on a range of units to support successful achievement of GCSE English and maths. Alongside this you will engage in taster sessions in your areas of interest such as Creative Arts, Engineering, IT, Business, Childcare, Sport, Health and Social Care or any other study programmes offered by the College. It should be noted that some study programmes in Construction, Catering, Hair and Beauty require to have completed a level 2 study programme in those specialisms in order for you to progress to Level 3. Student Support will be able to advise you. The course runs 18 hours per week over three or four days

Entry requirements

A profile of GCSEs at grade D or grade 3, to include English Language. This study programme is for young people aged 16-18 years who have joined a course that has not worked for them or are unsure of what to do next.

Financial information

Tuition Costs

No tuition fees are payable for students aged 16–18 on 31 August 2016.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of this programme students may progress to a Level 3 study programme subject to meeting the entry requirements of a specific course or onto an apprenticeship or employment.
