Children and Young People’s Workforce City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate at JR Training Hampshire Limited

Course description

Level 2 will suit you if you work in a supporting role as a nursery assistant, crèche worker or special educational needs assistant. You will be working with children, but you’ll generally work under supervision.


The qualification is made up of a core of mandatory units that meet the regulatory requirements of the course. Learners will be able to select from a range of optional units which relate to their specific field of work. Each unit has a credit value that contributes to the minimum 35 credit requirement of the qualification. The course criteria are assessed by portfolio of evidence produced by the learner and through assignments. Skills are assessed in the workplace via observation of performance. Knowledge can be assessed both in and out of the workplace. All assessments are tailored to meet the learning needs and preference of the individual learner.

Entry requirements

To be eligible for enrolment on this course there are no academic requirements but the learner needs to be working in a job role equivalent to the course they wish to take i.e. care worker, nursery assistant or school teaching assistant. The learner must work a minimum of 16 hours per week to start this course but it is recommended the learner works 30+ hours a week in their Childcare setting.
