Government and Politics at Blessed George Napier School

Course description

At AS we study 2 units. The first is the Contemporary Government of the UK, the other is the Contemporary Politics of the UK.At A2 we study the Politics and Government of the United States of America. There are 2 units, as at AS, one is on Contemporary Government and Politics, the other on US Government and Politics in general.

All units require candidates to be able to make reference to recent relevant examples. This means that they have to be up to date with the day to day issues that come up during the course. They must get into the habit of reading newspapers and be able to connect those stories with a more technical understanding of Government and Politics.

Entry requirements

A minimum of five A* - C grades at GCSE is required for all students wishing to enter the Sixth Form and the student should also have gained an A or B grade in the subjects they wish to take.
