Course description

Solihull College could offer the helping hand you need to start your career in nursing, social care, social work or other health-related professions.

Course content

Studying level 1 provides an introduction to the skills, qualities and knowledge that will be required for employment in a health and social care setting.

Units include;
- Health and Social care needs,
- Communication,
- Promoting Healthy Eating in Care,
- Job Opportunities in Health and Social Care
- Creative and Leisure Activities for Children and Adults

Entry requirements

No formal qualifications are needed to gain entry, however learners must have a keen interest in working within the sector and be working at entry level for Maths/English

Assessment

Through assignments, practical’s, presentations and discussions

Future opportunities

Learners on the level 1 course will be given the opportunity to complete work experience in the sector.
It is a requirement of this course that all learners complete a DBS check before they are allowed out on their work experience.
All learners are required to wear the Care and Education uniform

Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?

Learners who enrol on Health and social care courses are required to wear uniforms, complete a DBS check and a trip will be offered. These additions will require a contribution from the student; costs available prior to enrolment. The cost will also include the course handbook/text book.
