Economics A-Level at Reading School

Course description

Economics is a lively and evolving social science that studies the choices individuals, businesses, governments and entire societies make. Economics helps you to look more deeply into the world around you, allowing you to develop a broader appreciation of how and why it functions as it does. It can also give you new perspectives on some of the most pressing and challenging problems facing the world today; the Euro debt crisis; the credit crunch; falling real incomes; unemployment and underemployment; the EU single market; action to reduce carbon emissions; interest rates; fiscal austerity; migration and road pricing - to name but a few.

Course content

The OCR AS course has been structured to develop both microeconomic and macroeconomic concepts and theories in a variety of interesting contexts.

Entry requirements

Open to all successful entrants to Year 12.

Future opportunities

Many Reading School students go on to take up places at top universities studying Economics related courses.
