Course description

This qualification is aimed at those preparing to embark on a career in the Sport and Active Leisure industry, or wishing to practically participate in a number of activities. They are practical, hands-on qualifications which are designed to prepare the candidate for work in a multitude of sport and leisure facilities and raise awareness of how and where to participate in sporting opportunities. The course uses the ethos of rugby to re-engage learners in education and prepare for a career within the sports industry. The course offers a wide range of work experience opportunities in connection with Premiership Rugby partners.

This course is over 1 year and after the first year you will gain a L1 City & Guilds Certificate in Sport that is worth 25 credits. 

Course content

You will study a variety of units which could include the following:-
• Participating in sport
• Assist in the planning, delivery and evaluation of sporting activities

• Improving personal exercise and fitness.

• People skills in sport and active leisure
• Components and function of the body in physical activity.

Entry requirements

There are no formal qualifications required but all students will go through diagnostic assessment prior to commencing the course.

Assessment

You will be assessed through practical observation, oral questions, written projects/assignments and discussions.

Future opportunities

If you successfully complete the course, you can progress to the Level2 Diploma in Sport.

 

You could find employment in areas such as the sports and leisure industry, sports coaching in sports clubs and schools and health and fitness clubs.
