Media Studies A-Level at New Rickstones Academy

Course description

Media studies is ‘the ability to create, use, analyse and understand media products, within the context of their audiences and institutions.' Students will work in groups to produce a music promotional video for their coursework. The exam is in two parts. In the first part students will produce an individual theoretical evaluation of their production work over the entire course. The second section is called ‘Contemporary Media Issues’ and students will answer a question on Contemporary Media Regulation.

A Level Media Studies will equip you with the critical thinking, research and essay writing skills essential for higher education. Additionally, the course will provide you with a much greater awareness of the media industries, how they operate and the nature of their products should you wish to pursue a career in this field.
