Bricklaying Diploma Level 2 at New College Stamford
Develop your practical skills and experience, and kick-start your career in the Bricklaying industry. With practical tasks simulated to match real industry scenarios, you will gain skills and knowledge of the craft. You will learn how to set out basic masonry structures and how to construct solid walling, incorporating isolated and attached piers, cavity walling, masonry claddingand thin joint masonry.You will have the opportunity to visit the Construction Trade Fair at the NEC in Birmingham, as well as other trade based events. You can also take part in regional and national competitions such as World Skills Build which has seen the very best in Construction compete for 45 years.This course is approximately 10% theory and 90% practical.
You will learn new skills from experts in the Bricklaying industry. All practical tasks are simulated to match real industry scenarios. You will also complete workbooks and assignments to develop your theory knowledge, take part in a construction work placement which will give you on-site experience alongside opportunities to complete relevant community projects.
A Level 1 Diploma in Bricklaying or equivalent in industry experience.
Each unit has a multiple choice end test, as well a practical synoptic test/s in the workshop. You will receive regular feedback on your performance and help and advice via action plans and extra training to enable you to be successful in your assessments.
On successful completion of this course you can progress onto the Bricklaying Diploma Level 3 or a Trowel Occupations Apprenticeship.
You will be required to supply your own full length work trousers and safety footwear for the workshop, along with a change of footwear when leaving the workshop. You will also need course specific text books and stationery. You will be sent a full list of materials and equipment prior to enrolment.
