Art and Design (Textiles) at Droitwich Spa High School

Course description

You will be given the opportunity to work within the study areas of:-

* Dyed fabric materials - silk painting, shibori, batik
* Fashion - design, illustration, styling, photography
* Fabric decoration All work will be supported by study of the work of other artists and designers.

How is it taught?
Initial work is teacher directed, but you will be increasingly expected to determine your own avenues of investigation and experimentation, producing artwork which is both interesting and personally satisfying. You will systematically build a portfolio of quality work and keep a sketch book. Demonstrations, lectures, group discussions, gallery visits and after school session will all enhance your own practical work.

Entry requirements

On choosing this two year ‘A’ level course you would normally have successfully completed a GCSE Art Textiles course or GCSE Fine Art course achieving at least a grade C.

A high level of commitment is involved with considerable responsibility being placed on the individual to provide the self-motivation to work independently.
