Course description

This study programme is geared towards finding employment within the vibrant and exciting hospitality and tourism industry whilst also helping you achieve your academic objectives. It is designed for those who are looking to further their knowledge and experience of the Hospitality and Catering industry. If you want to lead a team in the planning and running of events and work in a customer service based environment then this study programme is for you! It builds on existing knowledge and skill to prepare you for a career as a supervisor or manager in hospitality and tourism related industries. 

Course content

Entry requirements

In our experience in order to be successful on this course you will need one or more of the following:

  • four to five GCSEs at grade A*-C (including English and maths) and a level 2 diploma
  • a BTEC foundation diploma in a related subject
  • level 2 functional skills (including literacy and numeracy)
  • equivalent qualifications or relevant work experience.

Assessment

To complete each subject successfully you must demonstrate your competence at meeting the learning outcomes for each unit. This will be in a number of ways and will reflect the requirements of supervising a hospitality and tourism workforce, such as:

  • portfolio of evidence
  • presentations
  • group projects
  • observations of your practical competence
  • reports and essays
  • online tests.

Future opportunities

Upon successful completion of this course you may be able to progress to:

  • a junior manager position within the hospitality and tourism industry, working in events, restaurant, hotel and tourism services manager
  • work in hospitality and tourism overseas
  • the Hospitality and Tourism Management Foundation Degree at the College.
