Art & Design - BTEC Level 2 Diploma at Harrow College
Students considering a career in Art and Design.
This course gives a broad view of art and design. You will study Photography, Painting, Drawing, Photoshop, Ceramics, 3D and Other Peoples' Art.
Most of your lessons will be in art workshops and you will be doing practical artwork and taking notes/ recording in your sketchbooks. The lecturers will demonstrate techniques and the use of tools and materials. You will also be taken on visits to art galleries and museums.
GCSE grades C - D, including Art or a Merit - Distinction in Btec Level 1 in Art & Design; for an interview you can bring your GCSE Art portfolio and sketchbooks.
You will complete sketchbooks and final pieces for each subject projects, writing comments about your work and a final evaluation. These art pieces will be assessed and you can achieve a Pass, Merit or Distinction grade. Interim assessments and feedback run through out the year, informing your progress.

This course can lead to jobs in Photography, Graphic Design, Games Design, Web Design, Fashion and Textiles Design. It can also lead to a BTEC Level 3 Diplomas in Art and Design.
Equipment or materials:
You need some art materials at home to complete your homework. You should have some paints / water colours, colour pencils and markers at home.
You must pay a materials levy to cover the materials you use during the different lessons and the sketchbooks given to you.
