NCFE CACHE LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE IN AN INTRODUCTION TO EARLY YEARS EDUCATION AND CARE at Selby College
This one-year course will prepare learners for working with children between birth and five years, with knowledge of children up to seven years.
You will develop a basic understanding of childcare, including:
- Introducing the Role of the Early Years Practitioner
- Legislation, Framework and Professional Practice
- Play, Development and Learning for School Readiness
- Professional Development
Please note: If you have not achieved a Grade 4 or above in GCSE English and/or Maths you will be required to continue studying these alongside your college course.
An enhanced DBS check will be carried out on your suitability to work with children which you will be required to pay for, currently £44.00.*

Internally assessed observations/portfolio/coursework
On successful completion of your course and provided you have Grade 4 in GCSE English and Maths, you may continue your studies on the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Technical Diploma in Childcare and Education (EYE) or the BTEC National Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care.
In order to progress, you must have good attendance and achieve the necessary entry requirements for the higher level course.
