Sport BTEC Level 3 at Alder Grange Community and Technology School

Course description

This course has been designed to provide learners with a high quality industry recognised qualification geared to the specific requirements of key sectors. It is entirely coursework based, and has been designed to accredit learners’ achievements in a modern and practical way that is relevant to the workplace.

As a BTEC sport student you will learn how to conduct fitness tests, explore the structure and function of the body and appreciate how it copes with exercise, and an understanding of psychology and nutrition. You will also develop skills and knowledge of sporting activities, environments and organisations. It can be equivalent to either one or two A Levels

Course content

Units include:

  • Fitness Testing for Sports and Exercise

  • Principles of Anatomy

  • Physiology Psychology for Sports Performance

  • Sports Nutrition

Entry requirements

C or 5 in PE or Science.

    • Alder Grange Sixth Form (ag6) opened as a new Sixth Form in 2010. Since then we have recruited students from across Rossendale and beyond on to a range of both A Level and BTEC level 3 courses. We have been delighted that our results have improved year on year and that Alder Grangers have successfully moved on from Sixth Form to University or the world of work in areas ranging from Music Production and Zoology to Teaching and Engineering. We have developed a strong sense of community and a warm, caring and supportive ethos.
