Course description

This course aims to encourage a candidate to develop as an informed, independent reader and critic of literary texts. This is achieved through a course of both wide and close reading. The course is split into 2 units at AS level and 2 units at A2 level. There are coursework units in both AS and A2. AS Units: Unit 1: Aspects of Narrative Unit 2: Dramatic Genres EXTRA FEATURES: Visits to Theatre Productions

Grade B or above at GCSE English AND English Literature

POSSIBLE PROGRESSION: University: a wide range of degree courses accept candidates who have a good grade at English A Level. FE Colleges. Post 18 Employment SUGGESTED SUBJECT COMBINATIONS: History, Media, Philosophy, RE, Sociology You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses or to prepare for the A2 part of an Advanced GCE in English Literature, which could lead onto higher education in English related studies or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to English Literature such as a Teacher, Journalist, Author or Poet. You could also go straight into a job as the AS GCE is a recognised qualification that will help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
