Health & Social Care BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Harrogate College
Health and Social Care is a very rewarding profession which provides you with the opportunity to care for others and make a positive difference to people’s lives.
This Level 3 qualification offers an opportunity to study, experience and research a comprehensive range of interesting and invaluable Health and Social Care subjects. You will be taught specific knowledge, theories and skills important to the sector and your own personal and professional development.
Students will complete a work placement each year.
The study programme includes Citizenship, Equality and Diversity and completion of your Progression Passport.
This course is set over two years with key areas of study including:
Care of Children
Nutrition for Health and Social Care
Developing Effective Communication
Anatomy and Physiology
This course requires 95% minimum attendance, including work placement.
Must have a minimum of 4 GCSE’s at grade C or higher including English and Maths and a science subject or BTEC First Level 2 extended certificate in Health and Social Care at Distinction level including Maths & English. Also require a clean DBS certificate and a satisfactory initial assessment.
Assessment takes place on a continual basis, in the form of assignments for which Pass, Merit and Distinction grades can be achieved.
These may be presented in the form of typed documents, presentations, role play, research tasks, projects and posters. These tasks are also based on a case study or real life experience.
The course is an ideal progression route to continue study at degree level such as Nursing, Midwifery, Social Care and Physiotherapy. Alternatively to enter employment in one of the many different Health and Social Care sectors such as:
Mental Health Worker
Substance Misuse Practitioner
Family Support Worker
Health Care Assistant
Occupational Therapy Support Worker
