ICT at Madeley Academy

Course description

Information Technology skills are now vital in the world in which we work. The newly revised OCR Level 2 National Certificate in Information Technology qualification ensures that our IT provision at Madeley Academy keeps abreast of developments.

This course allows the flexibility for students to achieve their maximum potential in ICT and covers the mandatory unit of 'ICT skills for Work' and further optional units such as web page creation.

Course content

The OCR Level 2 National in ICT has been developed to provide candidates with an introduction to the skills, knowledge and understanding required to prepare for work in the information and communication technology sector. They have also been designed to help candidates develop their personal skills in the areas of team working, career planning, communication and problem solving. They accredit candidates' abilities to carry out a range of tasks and have been designed to accredit candidates' achievements in a modern, practical way that is relevant to the workplace.

This qualification will include:

OCR Level 2 National First Certificate in Information Technology (equivalent to three GCSE's)

OCR Level 2 National Certificate in Information Technology (equivalent to four GCSE's)

Entry requirements

No Formal Entry Requirements.


All units will be centre-assessed and externally moderated by a visiting moderator. There will be no external tests attached to these qualifications.
