NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing & Heating. at City Training Services

Course description

Within this programme you will develop your basic Plumbing skills, Knowledge and Practical experience by working with various types of Plumbing hand tools and Machinery. You will produce a number of practical pieces of Plumbing work; understand plumbing materials and how they are used within the industry. The Learner will be taught by qualified and experienced tutors at one of our approved local Colleges who will be supportive and encourage “hands on “learning as well as classroom theory. For the duration of the apprenticeship the Learner will receive full support from one of our dedicated training co-ordinators who will maintain regular contact and conduct a progress review every 10 weeks.

Course content

This involves 7 mandatory units, the Learner will be taught by qualified and experienced tutors at one of our approved local Colleges who will be supportive and encourage “hands on “learning as well as classroom theory. For the duration of the apprenticeship the Learner will receive full support from one of our dedicated training co-ordinator who will maintain regular contact and conduct a progress review every 10 weeks.

Technical Certificate Level 2

There are 13 units to complete and learning will take place in one of our approved, local, colleges. This part of the qualification is the underpinning knowledge the Learner will need to carry out the job effectively, but the Learner will also have fun learning

Key Skills in Application of Number and Communication at Level 2

Working with an excellent team of key skills tutors, the Learner will receive support and tuition to successfully complete a test and portfolio for both application of number and communication. However, depending on GCSE grades the Learner may be exempt from some or all parts of key skills.

                                                                                                                 

• Maintaining a Safe Working Environment Whilst Undertaking Plumbing Activities

• Maintain Effective Plumbing Working Relationships

• Contribute to the Improvement of Plumbing Work Environment

• Installation of Non-Complex Plumbing Systems

• De- commission Non-Complex Plumbing Systems

• Maintenance of Non-Complex Plumbing Systems & Components

All above relate to Key Plumbing Principles & Processes in the following;

• Cold Water Systems

• Domestic Hot Water Systems

• Central Heating Systems (pipe work only)

• Electric Supply & Earth Continuity.

13 examinations are taken plus on site assessments.

Entry requirements

GCSE grade C and above or equivalent in Maths & English would be an advantage.

Assessment

This qualification is assessed through written & practical Assignments, and E-Volve on line examinations and on site observations.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Plumbing, an apprentice will have the skills, knowledge and qualifications to:

Progress to learning and assessment programmes that lead to relevant Level 3

Qualifications and/or Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Domestic Plumbing and Heating

Progress in their career with further training into such job roles as Technician, Designer

Estimator, Project Manager, Site/Workshop Supervisor/Manager, Chartered Engineer,

Sales Engineer or Commercial Manager
