Applied Science (BTEC) at Maiden Erlegh School
Science is the study of the world around us. Its applications are many and varied, being applicable to a wide variety of jobs in sectors such as the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, the medical profession, quality control, forensic science services, biotechnology and many more. BTEC Applied Science has been deliberately created to study and develop the analytical and technical skills required to enter these and other sectors, or to transfer to higher education, in an exciting and practical way. The course is consistently linked to real-world examples and would be suitable for students preferring a portfolio-based assessment.
Students will require at least five A*-C grades at GCSE, sound Mathematical and English skills and atleast a grade C at Science GCSE or a least a Merit at Level 2 BTEC Science.
