Fashion, Theatre and Media Hair and Make-up Studies (Beauty) Level 3 Diploma at Furness College
The purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills as a professional make-up artist working with performers and photographers to a high level of occupational ability, to enable you to provide hair and make-up services in the media, theatre, performing arts, fashion and photographic industries.
Units studied include:
• Apply airbrush make-up to the face
• Camouflage make-up
• Media make-up
• Style and fit postiche
• Fashion and photographic make-up
• Client care and communication in beauty-related industries
• Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon
• Apply prosthetic pieces and bald caps
Functional Skills form part of this qualification and will be assessed at the relevant levels.
A Level 2 in Beauty Therapy or Level 2 in Hair & Media Make Up.
You will be observed throughout the course by your tutor whilst practicing the skills learnt in class. All students will have to sit an end of unit exam for each unit to successfully complete the course.
All students are expected to purchase the college Kit and uniform to complete practical assessments.
This course provides advance skills and techniques for a career as a makeup artist or students who wish to work in television and theatrical productions. It also provides a sound platform for further learning at university, such as a degree (BA Honours) in Fashion Styling and Make Up for Media.
