Electrical Installation Level 1 Diploma at Basingstoke College of Technology

Course description

You will receive instruction, guidance and encouragement to practise and develop the skills necessary to achieve the award.

This course will begin to give you the basic knowledge and skills to carry out works in the electrical trade by studying units including Health and Safety, Scientific Principles and Hand Skills.

If you have grade D in maths or English you will continue with GCSE alongside your vocational course.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grade D or above, including English and Maths.


The course is continuously assessed by using both practical and written tests.

Financial information

If you are aged 16-18, tuition and registration fees are free. 
If you are aged 19 or over, tuition and registration fees are payable at the start of each year of study; please ask for details.
If you are aged 24 or over, you may be eligible for a Student Loan to assist with your fees; please ask for details.
Financial support may be available through learner services.

Future opportunities

This course is a recognised route into a Level 2 course or onto an Apprenticeship.
