Geography AS/A2 at Islington Sixth Form Consortium (IC6)
Geography explores the way we are influenced by the world around us and how we use and change it. If you are interested in environmental and global issues this course will give you the opportunity to examine some of the key ideas and debates in our world today.
There are 3 sections to the course:
- Physical Environments - studying natural landforms such as rivers, coasts and tectonic landforms.
- Human Environments studying migration, settlement, development, globalisation and population.
- Applied Geographical Skills - exam based on practical study done on a residential trip.
The course offers you the opportunity to develop key fieldwork and research skills giving you valuable skills that employers and universities want.
Unit 1: Physical and Human Geography
Unit 2 Geographical Skills
Unit 3 Contemporary Geography
Unit 4 Geographical Research
6 GCSEs Grade A* to C including English and Mathematics as well as a Grade B in English and Geography.
100% modular examination.
This qualification leads to a degree course in Geography or a related subject. It is a useful subject to study for a wide range of career paths including conservation, planning, leisure and tourism and environmental agencies.
