Entry requirements

For all Level 3 subjects five or more GCSE’s are required at grade C including Grade 5 in Maths & English Language. All students must continue with Maths and English if they have not achieved a Grade 4

Merit at BTEC Level 2 if taken;  Grade 5 in GCSE Maths & English is desirable

Assessment

Many of the units will be delivered in an integrated manner.  The work is very student centred and although there will be some lectures and note-taking much of the work will involve students finding information out for themselves. The ‘business world’ will be used as much as possible and there will be Work Placements, Industrial visits, possible Residential trips, and relevant speakers.  Students can be involved in starting up, running and eventually closing down their own business.  There will also be considerable use of I.T.

Within each award there will be a number of assignments set which enable students to demonstrate their understanding of different topics.  These assignments will be graded (Pass, Merit, Distinction) and any incomplete/incorrect work can be re-submitted.  Throughout the year students will build up a portfolio of evidence (i.e. assignments) to demonstrate this understanding.

This qualification is available from an AS to 2 full A levels, so there is great flexibility built in to meet the needs of individual pathways.
