Mathematics A-Level at Pendleton Sixth Form College
We have highly qualified and enthusiastic staff who will make the subject enjoyable, relevant and rewarding for students of all levels of ability. The emphasis is on student centred learning and the course is delivered through a mixture of individual, paired and group based activities both in the classroom and online. We have a large bank of interactive resources available through our virtual learning environment to help you feel supported through the course.
During the course you will develop your algebraic and problem solving skills and we will enhance your knowledge of mahs within business, analysis and engineering though statistics and mechanics.
Topics could include:
- Algebra and calculus
- Geometry and trigonometry
- Sequences and series
- Functions and transformations
- Linear and quadratic equations
- Logarithms and exponentials
You would be expected to have 3 GCSE grades B/5s and 3 GCSE grades C/4s. including a B/6 in Mathematics
All units are assessed by examination papers. There are no coursework assessments
All full-time courses are free to 16-18 year olds who are an EU citizen.
A-Level Mathematics is undoubtedly one of the most valued and versatile qualifications available to students. A good grade in this subject is a clear indication of your ability to work hard, think logically and solve problems. Many of our students go on to study mathematics degrees at university, but mathematics is also particularly useful for medical, accounting, law, engineering and computer science degrees.
