Agriculture Level 3 Apprenticeship at Reaseheath College

Course description

Available for those aged 16 and over, this is a great opportunity for you to earn as you learn. You will combine paid work on a farm with studying one day a week at Reaseheath.

You will learn technical skills and continue to build on your existing experience and knowledge whilst specialising in either livestock production or mixed farming.

As an Apprentice you will study a range of farming topics and will gain either a Level 2 Apprenticeship or a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship. You will also study English and Maths Functional Skills plus additional qualifications which may include first aid, veterinary medicine, telehandler operation, cattle foot trimming, sheep shearing and spraying.

You will gain:

  • Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Agriculture
  • Additional training is provided in a number of disciplines
  • Functional Skills or GCSE in English and Maths depending on previous qualifications

  • Forage crops and grassland
  • Functional Skills or GCSE in English and Maths depending on previous qualifications
  • You will have the opportunity to work towards additional qualifications
  • Breeding and genetics (dairy option only)
  • Dairy mechanisation (dairy option only)
  • Soil science (mixed farming option only)
  • Crop production (mixed farming option only)

Entry requirements

  • Preferably 3 GCSEs at grades C or above including English and Maths
  • Level 2 Apprenticeship in Agriculture
  • A minimum of 12 months practical farm experience / competence in the workplace

    • You will be studying in the beautiful, rural setting of Cheshire, one mile from the market town of Nantwich with good connections to Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool and Chester. 

      The Reaseheath campus itself is small enough to retain its friendly, family atmosphere, but large enough for you to be able to mix with lots of groups of students.
