ART: FINE ART at Davenant Foundation School

Course description

AS Focus on Breadth

Unit 1 (F411) Coursework Portfolio 60%. Students will record from primary and secondary sources, develop ideas and concepts and explore skills and techniques. They will learn to analyse their own art and work of other artists in contemporary, historical and cultural contexts.

Unit 2 (F421)Controlled Assignment 40% Students select one starting point from examination paper. And have planning and preparation time working towards a 5 hour controlled period to develop ideas into realisation/outcome.

A2 Focus on Depth

Unit 3 (F431) Personal Investigation 60% Students will produce one major project, which can be split into a series of work. Students explore personal responses, observations and experiments in a wide range of media; developing ideas to show an in depth understanding. This must include a related personal study between 1000 – 3000 words.

Unit 4 (F441) Controlled Assignment 40% Students select one starting point from examination paper have planning and preparation time working towards a 15 hour controlled period to develop ideas into realisation/outcome.

Entry requirements

A and B grades are accepted. C grade students will need to show a portfolio of work to the Head of Department.
