Mathematics A-Level at Nunthorpe Academy

Course description

Why choose Mathematics?

Mathematics is probably the most marketable ‘core’ A-Level in terms of professional acceptability. It is difficult to think of any course or career where it would not be welcomed in combination with other subjects. All career paths will benefit from the logic and processing skills that A-Level Maths instils.

What does the course involve?

In Year 12, the course covers Pure Core 1, Pure Core 2 and Decision 1.

Pure Core 1 includes Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, Polynomials, Differentiation and Integration.

Pure Core 2 is Graphs and Transformations, Trigonometry, Algebra and Functions, Sequences and Series, Differentiation and Integration.

Decision 1 is Algorithms, Graphs, Linear Programming and Networks.

In Year 13, we continue with Pure Core 3 and 4 and add Statistics 1.

You will be expected to maintain a high level of study throughout the year, including regular homework.

A good scientific calculator is a must!

Entry requirements
