Business, Events and Marketing at The EDGE School of Creative and Business at EKC Group

Course description

Perfect if you are interested in working to run events, project manage professional creative contracts and learn how produce effective marketing and advertising.

Course content

You will learn about business by planning, running and evaluating a series of events. You will learn a range of media and marketing skills to make the specialised events run to professional standards. Part of the course is to develop academic and practical skills in media production such as photographing and filming the events, products and services to use in advertising and publicity. 

You will have opportunities to work in our creative agency and project management real professional contracts. This will involve liaising with clients, organising teams to work the contracts and making sure all deadlines are met and the work produced or service delivered is at the appropriate professional quality.

Entry requirements

5 Cs or 4s including English and maths.

Assessment

Assessment will be through a combination or practical, written, and presentation assignments. This is a mainly practical programme with written work as supporting evidence, and assessments based on practical work skills.

Financial information

If you are 16-18yrs old at the start of the Study Programme, it will be free. There may be additional payments required for trips, visits and other materials. For adult learners (over 19) financial support towards the costs of your Study Programme may be available. Eligible students may be able to get help with course related costs such as travel, equipment and childcare.

Please note: For those claiming state working age benefit this course is classed as part-time.

Future opportunities

We offer this course as a one year Diploma or two year Extended Diploma, equivalent to three A Levels. On successful completion you could gain employment within the business or creative industries. 

Alternatively you could open your own business if you have a specific skill base and business area that you work to build skills in as you study on the course. If you choose to continue your education you could progress on to a higher education course at either college or university.
