Course description

Psychology  A-Level is a 100% Exam A-Level course and we study how the mind works and how this affects behaviour by looking at widely acclaimed Psychologists and Research. Psychology looks at explaining human behaviour and exploring the Psychological studies that have taken place to explain this. Conferences will also be organised where students can view real-life, practical applications of Psychology by witnessing actual hypnosis take place and the emergence of new concepts such as the Psychology of Dance, which have also been broadcasted in the media.

Entry requirements

5 A*-C Grades at GCSE

(Minimum Grade 5 in Maths and a B Grade in Sciences)

Assessment

Psychology A-Level is 100% exam there is no coursework assessment involved.

There are 3 units that are taught across the two years of which there are 3 externally assessed exams that are taken at the end of year 13, as there are no exams taken at the end of year 12.

However there will be continuous assessment of knowledge, understanding and application taken throughout the 2 years using exam questions by the AQA exam board and Exam Sims within sixth form.

 

 

Future opportunities

Wide variety of courses and job opportunities such as becoming a Psychologist, a Psychotherapist, Teaching and any other health or Social Care Profession such as nursing. Psychology A-Level allows access to several courses due to the nature of the content involved as Psychology is such a versatile course.
