Physics AS & A Level at Coloma Convent Girls' School

Course description

The course aims to make students more aware of the relevance of Physics to their everyday lives and to show the importance of Physics as a human endeavour that interacts with social, philosophical, economic and industrial matters.

Course content

At AS level the topics studied are:

  • Measurements and their Errors
  • Particles and Radiation
  • Waves
  • Mechanics and Materials
  • Electricity

At A level, in addition, the following topics are included:

  • Mechanics and Thermal Physics
  • Fields and their consequencies
  • Nuclear Physics

and one option from:

  • Astrophysics
  • Medical Physics or
  • Engineering Physics

Entry requirements

The choen pathway requirements and at least Grade A in GCSE Physics OR Grades AA in Science and Additional Science. In addition, students should have Grade 7 in GCSE Mathematics.
