SYNOPSIS OF CONTENT

 

AS Course

 

Youth culture and concerns.

Lifestyles: health and fitness.

The world around us (travel, tourism, environment).

Education and employment.

 

A2 Course

 

Customs, traditions, beliefs and religions.

National and international events.

Literature and the arts.

 

Students will also complete in-depth study and research on a Spanish film for their Research, Understanding and Written Response exam.

 

Lessons will generally be conducted in Italian and students should aim to communicate in the target language as much as possible to progress in their spoken skills.

 

 

Course content

AS Course

Youth culture and concerns.

Lifestyles: health and fitness.

A2 Course

Entry requirements

Grade B or higher at GCSE level in Italian.

Assessment

AS:  2 Units

Speaking (8-10 minutes) 30%.

Discussion of chosen topic area.

Understanding (Listening and Reading) and Written Response in Italian

 

A2: 2 Units

Speaking (11-13 minutes) 35%.

Debate on a controversial issue and discussion of further topics.

Research, Understanding and Written Response in Italian 65%.

Translation, a Discursive Essay and Research-based assignment on a book.
