Hospitality – BTEC Hospitality level 3 (QCF) Block A at Homewood School and Sixth Form Centre

Course description

This course looks at many aspects of the catering and hospitality industry. It starts by looking at the industry as a whole and then moves on to how to deliver good customer service and the management of staff. You will also look at areas around the world, comparing food styles and preparing a range of both domestic and international dishes. In your final year you will plan and run a large event for the school or department including the staffing, pricing and all the aspects of delivery.

You will study a number of units: • Unit 1 The Hospitality Industry • Unit 2 Principles of Supervising Customer Service • Unit 3 Providing Customer service in Hospitality • Unit 6 Food and Drink Service • Unit 10 European Food • Unit 11 Asian Food • Unit 22 Planning and Running a Hospitality Event

Entry requirements

2 pass grades at GCSE (English and Maths) grade 4 or above

Future opportunities

This course will give you the opportunity to go on to college or industry to either study or work in management. With the hospitality industry being the second largest employer in the country the choices are varied. The course also gives you the chance to look at overseas work with large chains or smaller businesses.
