Building Craft Occupations at The Rushden Community College
The award is delivered by Moulton College at the Trades Academy in Higham Ferrers. It is essentially practical and includes some bricklaying, carpentry, painting and decorating, fixing plasterboard, wall tiling, preparing work areas and associated safety, handling and storage procedures.
Students must show commitment and motivation to complete the course and have reasonable problem solving, numerical and communication skills.
Students are assessed on their practical skills and underpinning knowledge for each unit of the programme.
Health & Safety is a major consideration in the construction industry and students will be asked to provide and wear toe capped safety boots and overalls during the workshop sessions.
Success on the course will allow students to progress on to a higher level construction course or apprenticeships.
This course would need to be studied alongside other courses offered in the East Northamptonshire College.
