Biology at Range High School

Course description

Biology at Range is taught by highly qualified staff who are committed to their students' success. The pass rate for A Level Biology is consistently high. In previous years some students have achieved marks for A Level Biology which placed them in the top 5 students nationally.

The Biology department has developed a wide range of study materials to support students in their learning. Each laboratory has an interactive whiteboard and each student has their own microscope to use during AS and A level practical sessions. There are weekly after school sessions for students who need a little more support with their learning.

* Variation, adaptation and evolution
* Human interactions

A2 Level Topics:
* Communication
* Nerves and Hormones
* Excretion
* Photosynthesis and respiration
* Cellular Control
* Biotechnology
* Ecosystems and sustainability
* Responding to the environment

Entry requirements

To be guaranteed a place on this course, which is available on the red pathway, you need to meet the admissions criteria for Range High School Sixth Form with:

* A or B grade in Biology GCSE or in Additional Science GCSE
* Satisfactory academic and attitude references.
