Sport (Development, Coaching and Fitness) - Level 3 Diploma at Middlesbrough College
The BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport can be studied over one or two years. The BTEC units are both theory and practical related and you will have the opportunity to study in a wide range of practical environments. The progression pathway after year one would be to enrol on the second year programme, therefore achieving a full Level 3 Diploma in Sport (Development, Coaching and Fitness). This BTEC Level 3 Diploma prepares students for progression to Higher Education in a Sport related subject, employment in the Leisure and Fitness Industry or potential Scholarship’s both overseas and here in the UK.
Principles of Anatomy & Physiology In Sport The Physiology of Fitness Assessing Risk in Sport Practical Team Sports Sports Coaching Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise Fitness Training and Programming Sports Development Sports Nutrition Instructing Physical Activity and Exercise Organising an event Profiling Sports Performance
Four GCSE’s at Grade C or above, which must include Maths or English Language (with a minimum grade D in one). "If you do not have a Grade A to C in English and/or Maths, you will be required to continue studying these subjects as part of your Study Programme."
Students will be assessed through a variety of methods, consisting of written assignments, power point presentations, poster presentations, practical tasks, demonstrations, discussions, group work, voluntary work and online exams. Each assessment will be graded pass, merit, distinction with a point's value 7, 8, 9.
On completion of the course students can also progress onto a range of academic programmes of study including a foundation degree at Middlesbrough College or a Degree course at University after their second year. Alternatively learners can progress onto Apprenticeships providing they secure employment. Internal progression options are CYQ Level 2 Diploma in Personal Training, VTCT Level 3 Diploma in the Prevention and Management or Sport Injuries. Such options can be discussed upon successful completion of this programme of study.
