Product Design AS/A2 Level at Alderbrook School
Product Design A level has been designed to encourage candidates to take a broad view of design andtechnology, to develop their capacity to design and make products and to appreciate the complex relations between design, materials, manufacture and marketing.
Product Design A level retains much of the content of the previous GCSE specification and continues to provide candidates with the opportunity to design and make product (or, in the case of AS, a number of smaller products) in both years of the course.
It is helpful, but not necessary, for candidates to have studied GCSE Design and Technology before commencing work on this specification and a good understanding of mathematics is also very useful.
University degrees that require or often prefer Product Design include:
Product design, furniture and lifestyle products, interior design, design management, design innovation management, 3D designer maker, jewellery design.
Product Design provides a career path in a wide range of areas including design, marketing, manufacture and education.
