Information and Creative Technology BTEC Level 2 Diploma at Burnley College

Course description

There is the opportunity to specialise in areas of Information Technology including System Development and Support or Creative Technology. The latest software and equipment is used to gain skills that are appropriate to the industry. Modules include Website Development, Software Development, Digital Portfolio, Graphics and Animation, Technology Systems, Networking and Installing and Maintaining Computer Hardware.

Students will use Industry standard software for all subjects, while our dedicated classrooms have high specification computer hardware for production of high resolution graphics, games and animation. A range of gaming platforms are used to give students a holistic view of the industry. Students will use animation specialist resources, such as modelling clay, cameras & lighting.

Entry requirements

Two GCSEs at grade C or above including English Language OR a relevant Level 1 Diploma and GCSE grade C in English Language.


Assessment is via two externally assessed units which are exam based, assignments and portfolio.

Future opportunities

A BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT in either Software Development or Networking and System Support or a Level 3 Computer Games Creation programme.
