Musical Theatre Level 3 RSL Certificate in Creative & Performing Arts at Goodwin Academy

Course description

Aim: This performing arts course gives the students the chance to learn a diverse range of applied skills with an industry focus.
The course closely imitates a company and students are expected to adopt the work ethic that suits this style of vocational expectation of the performing arts industry.

Course content

Dance students will be expected to attend classes and workshops in a variety of dance styles, and will be given the opportunity to take part in performances throughout the course.

Drama students will learn a variety of acting techniques, and perform in plays, pantomimes and touring performances.

Entry requirements

5 A*-C or 4-9 grades at GCSE (level 4 or higher in English and Mathematics).


All units are coursework based and an overall grade of Pass, Merit or Distinction is awarded for this qualification. Practical work completed in class, in conjunction with performances and theory, forms an essential part of the assessment portfolio.

This subject is also available as a Level 2 qualification.

Due to Government led changes Vocational qualifications will now have some external assessment as part of the qualification. However, it is envisaged that much of the course content will remain the same as the current courses on offer.

Future opportunities

This course will fully prepare students for university, a career in performing arts or teaching.
