Access to Higher Education Science Diploma Level 3 at The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London
This will be ideal if you want to progress to higher education but do not already hold a formal academic qualification. Modules include biology, chemistry, physics and maths.
The Access to Higher Education Diploma in science is offered at the Tottenham Centre. The course will focus on giving you the laboratory skills and knowledge required to succeed in Higher Education. This programme has been designed to focus not only on the biology, chemistry, physics and maths but will emphasise development of the more fundamental skills of good study practices, confidence building and research skills which will enable learners to become independent and therefore more likely to succeed on their chosen course at university.
Much of the work is practical, within a laboratory setting. This is supported by a research project and a field trip to focus on how fieldwork investigations are produced.
You must be at least 19 years old with the motivation to succeed in your studies. You will need GCSEs in Maths and English at Grade C or above. You will also be required to take an English and maths assessment, and have an interview.
Assessment is based on a portfolio marked by your teachers and validated by examiners. There are tests in some science subjects that need to be completed successfully.
You could progress to study science at degree level.
