Health and Social Care - BTEC Level 3 at Egglescliffe School
This BTEC qualification is the equivalent of one A level. It consists of four mandatory units worth 40 credits and optional units that provide a further 50.This course is assessed by a variety of methods such as; projects, practical work, internally assessed assignments, research and coursework.
Ideal for those who enjoy project-style work and investigating real situations, this course will help develop understanding of the diverse and complex nature of the health and social care sector. Learners are given the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques from being a creative thinker, to a reflective learner, preparing you with the attributes essential for successful performance in working life.
During the course students will build up a portfolio of evidence of their achievements in the various coursework activities. There are no formal examinations however short unit tests may be used to assess understanding and achievement. The 60-credit BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma is broadly equivalent to one GCE A Level. Health and social care is designed to provide learners with a broad introduction to the health and social care sector.
The qualification aims to develop skills that will enable them to make an effective contribution to the care sector, including research, evaluation and problem solving skills. Students may apply their learning to their choice of contexts: health, children’s services, care of older people or individuals with specific needs.
5+ A*-C grades in GCSEs or equivalent qualifications
This course prepares learners for the progression to employment in health and social care setting, higher education for example: nursing, midwifery, social work, teaching, occupational therapy.
