Applied Science Level 1 at Northampton College

Course description

A BTEC qualification is a practical, work-related course aimed at introducing you to the employment area you have chosen and provides a good basis to go on to a more advanced work-related qualification.You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.You will study a variety of units including topics in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Course content

This course is suitable for you if you have little experience and wish to improve your skills and confidence, or if you wish to develop skills and understanding of working with Science at a higher level.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at Grade E or above, or equivalent

Assessment

All units are assessed with course work which is graded, and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded. There may also be class tests

Future opportunities

After successful completion of this course you can progress to a vocational qualification, such as a Level 2 Diploma in Applied Science.

Further information

Students aged 19 or over at the start of the course will be required to pay awarding board fees of approximately £150 at enrolment.There may be opportunities to take part in visits/trips to a science museum. The cost will be approximately £10 and is payable at enrolment.
