Course description

Students will study both theoretical and practical aspects of Beauty Therapy.All 6 units must be successfully completed.Unit 101: Introduction to the hair and beauty sector.Unit 102: Presenting a professional Image in the salon.Unit 006: Skin careUnit 007: Hand careUnit 107: Themed face painting Unit 108: Nail Art ApplicationEnglish and maths: These subjects are an integral part of the course and will help students to focus on improving their grades. This is an essential requirement for progression onto higher levels of study and /or employment.Requirements:Wear a professional uniform at all times, recommended by the collegeMaintain a high level of personal hygieneBe able to work effectively with others and be willing to carry out and receive all treatments. Excellent attendance is required (100%)

Entry requirements

This course is for students over the age of 16 who are interested in working towards a career in Beauty Therapy. This qualification will prepare you for further study at level 2.You will need 4 GCSEs at grade E including maths & English, a school reference and a successful interview at the college.


Assessment is continuous by observation of practical skills, questioning and on-line testing.

Financial information

Beauty treatment rooms, open to the public, offer realistic working environments; A vocational learning centre offers access to IT resources;* Students will need a specialist equipment kit, professional salon uniform from the College's designated supplier, a pair of black shoes and black cardigan.* Additional costs may be required to cover trips organised by the section. Students may be eligible to apply to the College Learner Support Fund for financial assistance towards these costs.

Future opportunities

Successful students may progress onto a level 2 Beauty therapy, or Level 2 nail services course
