Food & Beverage Services Intermediate Apprenticeship at West Herts College
This course is ideal if you're already employed in hospitality roles such as bar staff and managers, conference and banqueting assistants, managers or restaurant waiting staff and want to develop your skills further and enhance your career options.
You are required to have a strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail, work well in a pressurised environment and in a team.
Organisational skills are important here – and if you can multi-task, so much the better. Communication and people skills are vital.
Examples of subject areas include:
Give customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation Serve alcoholic and soft drinks Prepare and serve cocktails Prepare and serve wine Maintain and deal with payments
The qualification is achieved by gaining practical experience at work. You will also be required to achieve a Level 1 award in English and maths and complete a workbook relating to employment rights and responsibilities.
Employment at a suitable level - most employers ask for GCSEs in English and maths, but may have additional specific requirements.
Following the completion of your course you may be able to progress onto the hospitality supervision and leadership advanced apprenticeship or start work in the industry in roles such as bar or waiting staff, conference and banqueting assistants, or hospitality managers.
