BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Clothing and Fashion at Netherhall Learning Campus

Course description

This is a creative, practical and work related course. You will study a wide range of projects and assignments based around fashion and clothing. If you enjoy art, textiles, design and fashion then this innovative course would be suitable for you. During the course you will study a wide range of units including fashion styling, garment production, pattern development and pattern construction.

To help support these units you will undertake a range of educational visits to galleries and exhibitions including Manchester Costume gallery. The course is designed to provide you with a good knowledge of new technology such as Computer Aided Design. Throughout the course you will have the opportunity to work in the industry with local textile and fashion designers.

Course content

During the course you will study a wide range of units including fashion styling, garment production, pattern development and pattern construction.

Entry requirements

No previous qualifications are required, however, a strong interest in creative practice is essential.

Assessment

As this is a practical based course you will be assessed through group presentations and coursework.

Future opportunities

On completion of the course you will be ready to undertake a range of higher education courses at University such as a degree or BTEC Higher National in subjects such as: Fashion, Textiles, Costume Design and Shoe Design or alternatively a career in the fashion industry.
