Health and Social Care BTEC Level 1 and 2 at Berkshire College of Agriculture
Health and Social Care students at BCA have the opportunity of learning with experienced health and social care professionals to enable them to progress to the career of their choice.
Professional speakers visit the department to enrich the vocational training offered here. Our students also benefit from a flourishing exchange programme with a college in Bavaria in Germany where they can acquire an international perspective on health and social care issues.
If you are interested in training to provide care or support to individuals and families dealing with the challenges of life then BCA offers a range of courses to help you
This course will provide the opportunity for those who want to work in the Health or Social Care sector to achieve a Level 1 or Level 2 qualification plus the required functional skills in English and maths.
This is an exciting new course that combines the 2 levels, with Level 2 learners mentoring Level 1 learners.
Four GCSEs or equivalent at D grade or above to include maths and English. If learners wish to progress to university to study nursing or any other health related disciplines at a later date, then science at grade D or above must be included as one of your 4 grades.
Learners who achieve the Level 2 qualification at Merit level or above and L2 English, maths and science will be interviewed for progression to either the 90 credit Diploma or the Extended Diploma at Level 3. Learners who achieve a pass at Level 2 will normally progress on to an Apprenticeship scheme.
Learners who achieve at Level 1 may be invited back to study this qualification at Level 2. This will enable learners who achieve L1 functional skills to work towards completing L2 functional skills to allow progression on to higher level courses.
All full-time students, aged between 16-18, will study GCSE or Functional Skills in Maths and English, if they don’t already hold an A*- C level GCSE in the subject. This is an integral part of their vocational study programme at BCA. Students over 19 are also encouraged to refresh and accredit their skills alongside vocational study.
