IT Application Specialist Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship at Northumberland College

Course description

This programme is for learners who are employed in a role where they are using software applications to produce or edit content. This could be as an office/business administrator or a web designer. Individuals who are new to the industry and require a complete training package would normally follow the traditional Apprenticeship route. This usually comprises of some training at College and some training and assessment in the work place.

Course content

You will develop higher level skills in the use of popular software applications that will support you in an office environment. Ideal if you work in an offce environment using a computer and want to gain a higher level qualification for your IT skills.

Entry requirements

You should have four GCSEs at Grade C or above including English and Maths or a relevant Level 2 qualifiction and be employed in an office environment.


Throughout the Apprenticeship as skills and knowledge are developed and evidence of this gathered, progress will be assessed by the course team. Evidence may be gathered in many different ways including: * Written * Research * Practical activity * Group work * Discussion * Observation of activity * Photographs * Witness statements * And a variety of other methods Additional work based assessments will be carried out by our ICT Work Based Assessor.

Future opportunities

Having completed a Level 3 Apprenticeship, apprentices may then progress on to a Level 4 programme of study. This could be HNC Computing and Systems Development. Alternatively, apprentices may elect to return to full-time education, and to complete A-Levels, the IT Diploma, BTECs or an equivalent qualification.
